Difference in Symptoms Between Common Cold and Flu Posted: 06 Oct 2009 08:28 AM PDT Many people are not able to differentiate between Common Cold and Flu, but there are some distinct difference in the symptoms of Common Cold and Flu Most General Symptoms of Common Cold 1. Runny nose with tear in eye. More water will flow from eye if you try to read something on concentrate on something. 2. Minor headache and pain in the face. 3. Symptoms start to appear gradually over time, it will take almost 10-12 hours from zero symptom to full. 4. There will be no fever and no body ache. but you feel some chills, heartbeat will be normal. Most General Symptoms of Flu 1. Very high fever and intense headache. 2. Feeling chills. 3. Soar throat (in lower area). 4. Pain in muscles and joints. 5. Very high heart beat rate. Both Flu and Common Cold is caused by virus, there is no effective medicine for common cold. Whatever medicine you will take, common cold will end only after 3-4 days.
